Our first Plitt from whom we have a written certificate, Jacob Plitt the Old, showed up in 1560 in a tax list. At this time he paid a good amount of taxes to the town of Biedenkopf. He was born around 1520, probably in Breidenbach. Starting in Biedenkopf, the Plitt’s spread out all over the world. Sometimes they changed their name into Plieth, Plit, Plith etc. The family meets every two years, once in Germany, once in the US, to come together, to discuss new results of family research and having a good time.
